MD814 Moisture Meter

£36.00 inc. VAT

We have been using one of these moisture meters for some time and have found it invaluable in determining whether sawn hardwood and softwood logs are ready for our woodstove. Touch the pins into the end of your log and read the moisture content from the large LCD screen. The 4 pin design of this meter gives additional accuracy.

Remember though that the end of the log is the driest bit and you should allow for this. Try to get the moisture content of your logs below 20%. Many natural logs sold have a moisture content way in excess of 40% as many suppliers haven’t the capacity to store and season logs. A large airy woodshed is the best way of achieving good seasoning but realistically you should expect this to take at least 12 months, and some woods such as beech and oak can take up to two years.

Description

This moisture meter is the safest way of ensuring better log burning helping prevent the nasty tar that can build-up in your flue. You do not need to check Blazer logs as they contain so little moisture, less than 10%, and many people find them very useful for ‘stretching’ their supply of cut logs.

Nationwide pallet delivery is available for this product.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that a pallet carrier can access the specified address. The site needs to be reasonably level as our pallets often weigh well over a tonne. The access needs to have minimum width of 2.8 metres and 5 metres headroom. The driver will have a small pallet truck to move the pallet off the tail lift but this will not operate over uneven or soft ground or gravel.

The delivery location must normally be able to accept vehicles up to 26 tonnes. However, if you advise us, we can instruct the delivery company to send a smaller vehicle. If you require a vehicle of 7.5 tonnes due to recent changes (weight restrictions on unloading) any pallets ordered will be required to be processed as half pallets instead of full pallets, so will incur added delivery charges.

Please contact us on 01768 896 634 before placing your order if your delivery address can not facilitate a large vehicle.
